Core Beliefs

The Word of God in its entirety, is the basis and the foundation of this church and is summarized in the following:

Concerning the Church

1. We believe this church must be conceived and structured and function according to the doctrine of the New Testament, in the pattern of churches described in the New Testament, and with respect to those beliefs and practices distinctive to Baptist churches through history. We believe a Baptist church to be local, visible expression of the church of Jesus Christ and the Bible to be the only and sufficient authority for belief and practice. The local church is sovereign in and of itself and independent of all external authority, including both ecclesiastical and political authority, but with the right to associate and disassociate as it pleases.  Believers enjoy liberty of their individual souls and are their own priests with direct access to God and responsible to Christ as Lord.  Members are those who have accepted Christ as personal Savior, publicly professed their faith by believer’s immersion, and agree to the beliefs and values of the church.  Local churches are responsible for the administration of but two ordinances:  believer’s immersion (baptism) and communion.  Leadership of a church is exercised from within its membership, including both pastors and lay leaders.

Concerning the Holy Scriptures

2. We believe in the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired of God, inerrant in the original writings and of supreme and final authority in faith and life.  2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:19-21

Concerning the Triune Godhead

3. We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Exodus 20:2, 3; 1 John 5:7; 1 Corinthians 8:6

Concerning the Deity of Jesus Christ

4. We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit in Mary as a virgin, and is true God and true man. Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:35

Concerning the Fall of Mankind

5. We believe that man in innocence under the law of his Maker, but by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless and happy state in consequence of which all mankind are now sinner, not only by constraint, but of choice; and therefore under just condemnation without defense or excuse. Romans 5:10-19; Genesis 3:1-6

Concerning the Atonement

6. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitution sacrifice and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. Ephesians 2:8; John 3:16; I Corinthians 15:3

Concerning the Bodily Resurrection of Jesus Christ

7. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His bodily ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate. Matthew 28:6,7; Acts 1:8-11; Hebrews 2:17

Concerning Justification and Salvation

8. We believe that salvation is by grace through faith and that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. John 1:12,13; Ephesians 2:8,9

Concerning the Rapture of the Church

9. We believe that the return of our Lord Jesus Christ to catch up on his people to meet him in the air is imminent and premillennial. John 14:3, I Thessalonians 4:16; Revelation 3:10; II Thessalonians 2.

Concerning the Return of Jesus Christ

10. We believe in the personal and bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ to set up His kingdom upon the earth. 1 Corinthians 15:25; Revelation 10:14, 20:6

Concerning Eternity

11. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust , the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost. I Corinthians 15:51-57; Revelation 20:10-15; I Thessalonians 4:13-18

Concerning Evangelism

12. We believe in the preaching of the Gospel and evangelizing of the world in accordance with the doctrines as set forth in the New Testament. Matthew 28:18-20; I Corinthians 15:1-4

Concerning the Ordinances

13. We believe baptism to be the immersion of an individual who has accepted Christ as personal Savior in order to profess this faith publicly. Communion, or the Lord's Supper, is the believers' memorial to Christ's atoning sacrifice. These ordinances are committed to our church for administration and are symbolic acts of obedience.
